A patient's best chance of finding a bone marrow donor match may be within his or her own family.

Welcome to BoneMarrowTest.com
  - Your resource for bone marrow/stem cell and cord blood transplantation.

Testing Resources:

BoneMarrowTest.com provides testing resources for patients who need stem cells from bone marrow, peripheral blood cells or umbilical cord blood. We're also dedicated to helping their family, friends, communities and organizations find suitable donors and obtain a stem cell transplant.

We provide human leukocyte antigen (HLA) testing to potential donors willing to donate stem cells to a patient in need of a stem cell transplant. HLA testing is an essential part of the process of identifying a bone marrow donor who may be a good "match" for the patient needing the transplant. BoneMarrowTest.com is designed to make the HLA testing process easier for patients and potential stem cell donors.

Patient Services:

We also offer extensive Patient Services to help you find a suitable marrow or other stem cell donor.

Stem cell transplants were traditionally referred to only as bone marrow transplants, since the cells used in the transplant were harvested from an adult donor's bone marrow. Today, non-embryonic stem cells come from bone marrow, or from an alternative source, like adult donors' peripheral blood cells or umbilical cord blood cells after birth.

Throughout this site, the terms stem cell transplant and bone marrow transplant are used to refer to transplants from all of these non-embryonic stem cell sources.

Stem cell transplantation offers the possibility of many years of healthy, normal life for the 30,000 children and adults in the U.S. affected by over 70 illnesses, including:

  • Non-Hodgkins lymphoma
  • Many forms of leukemia such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia
  • Other forms of cancer
  • Chemotherapy damage
  • Multiple myeloma
  • Radiation poisoning
  • Aplastic and sickle cell anemia

For many of these patients, a stem cell transplant offers the best chance of overcoming an otherwise fatal disease. Thousands of stem cell transplants are performed annually at approved medical centers worldwide. Stem cell transplants replace the patient's own supply of stem cells, the core cells that produce the blood cells needed for proper functioning of the immune system, with stem cells from a matched donor. In successful transplants, the new stem cells provide a functioning immune system to recipients for the rest of their lives.
